What are the Surahs of Protection: Divine Shield Against Evil, Harm, and the Unseen ?

Protection in Islam is sought primarily through dua (supplication) and recitation of Quranic Surahs that Allah has revealed for safeguarding us from evil, harm, Shaytan, black magic, jealousy, trials, and the punishment of the grave.

The following Surahs and verses have been recommended by the Prophet ï·º for protection.

1. Surah Al-Mulk (Surah 67) – Protection from the Punishment of the Grave

Virtues & Protection:

Shields from the punishment of the grave.

Intercedes for the person until they are forgiven.

When to Recite:

Every night before sleeping.

The Prophet ï·º specifically recommended reciting this Surah before sleeping for protection in the grave.

Evidence:

The Prophet ï·º said:

“There is a Surah in the Quran of thirty verses which intercedes for a man until he is forgiven. It is ‘Tabarak alladhi biyadihil-mulk’ (Surah Al-Mulk )

(Tirmidhi 2891, Abu Dawood 1400)

The Prophet ï·º also said:

“Surah Al-Mulk will protect its reciter from the punishment of the grave.” (Ibn Majah 3786)

Why It Protects?

This Surah reminds the reader about the greatness of Allah, life after death, and accountability.

It creates awareness of the Hereafter, which helps people stay away from sins and prepare for death.

By regularly reciting it, the person's faith becomes strong, ensuring Allah’s mercy in the grave.

The Surah discusses Allah’s absolute control over life, nature, and destiny, which instills peace and removes fear.

Why It Protects:
