The Reality of Dunya !

Surah Al-Hadid (57:20)

Translation:

"Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting among you, and competition in wealth and children. It is like the example of a rain whose growth pleases the disbelievers; then it dries up, and you see it turn yellow; then it becomes scattered debris. And in the Hereafter, there is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and His pleasure. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion?" (Surah Al-Hadid 57:20)

In this verse, Allah beautifully describes the dunya as an illusion—something that seems grand and fulfilling but ultimately fades away like withering crops. He warns us that attachment to worldly pursuits can lead to heedlessness, yet He also reminds us that the Hereafter holds both justice and mercy

What are the Stages of Worldly Life described in Surah AL-Hadid?

Allah describes the worldly life in five phases:

1. لعوب (Play) – This refers to childhood, when a person is mostly engaged in playing and having fun.

2. ولهو (Amusement) – This is the stage of youth, where entertainment, distractions, and seeking pleasures become dominant.

3. وزينة (Adornment) – In early adulthood, people focus on beauty, appearances, and material decorations.

4. وتفاخر بينكم (Mutual boasting) – As people mature, they begin to compete in status, power, and reputation.

5. وتكاثر فى الاموال والاولاد (Competition in wealth and children) – Finally, people focus on increasing their possessions, investments, and family prestige.
